about

What made it on the album are 20 tracks that are both acoustic and electronic in nature, and mostly ambient. A phrase I wrote myself for inspiration was “organic but digitized”. I wanted to integrate acoustic sound sources and samples with digital elements and some tracks are heavier in that regard than others, but I feel really pleased with the work I’ve put together.

Generally I like to avoid giving more context than I deem necessary about music, as the more I tell you (true or not) about what was going through my mind when writing, or trying to evoke any specific feeling or mood will colour your perception. With as little context as possible, I try to let my work exist on its own merits and imperfections. What I will say about the title of the album, the track names, and individual artworks is this:

- The album name comes from a friend; I found relatively early in the writing process that each track I was making was a different way to feel at peace, not all were the same kind or source of calm on a given day
- The track titles sort of reflect this, they’re situations (or jokes with friends) in which I feel peaceful, calm, and/or tranquil
- Each track has its own artwork—I hope you’ll find a favourite to calm you down on a stressful, bad, or crazy day. That track will be your peace, but as a collection they’re a bit chaotic and abstract, like the cover for the whole album
